Paul Childerley on how Suzuki ATVs tackle the challenges of gamekeeping and estate management

For professional gamekeeper and renowned countryside estate manager Paul Childerley, reliable equipment isn’t a luxury – it’s vital. Running game shoots across more than 1,200 acres of estate in Bedfordshire and managing several thousand acres of stalking ground in Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, Paul’s daily work demands rugged machinery capable of handling any terrain.

“I run three 4x4 vehicles but the Suzuki KingQuad is more important than having a car,” Paul says. “It goes where the trucks can’t and can tackle anything.”

Paul has worked in the field for over 40 years, having grown up in the gamekeeping industry under the guidance of his father. Over the years, he’s put plenty of ATV brands to the test – but once his local dealer introduced him to Suzuki, there was no turning back.

“When it comes to performance and durability, I’d never go for anything else now,” he says. “I’m often asked for advice on ATVs and I recommend Suzuki to everyone – once you try them, you see a 100% difference.”

Built for all seasons
There’s no off-season in gamekeeping. Whether it’s laying in spring, rearing through summer, feeding and shooting in autumn, or predator control in winter, Paul's ATV is in constant use.

“Gamekeepers are notoriously hard on gear. Most quads start racking up costly repair bills after two years – but the Suzuki just keeps going,” he says.

“It handles everything – from towing game trailers every day during the shooting season, to pulling fallen trees out of the way with a winch, cutting paddocks, feeding the pheasants and checking duck ponds,” Paul says. “And when the tracks get too wet for vehicles, the Suzuki is absolutely invaluable.”

Comfort meets capability
Working long hours over rough terrain demands more than durability, it demands comfort. And that’s another area where the KingQuad excels, he says.

“The suspension is far superior to other brands – you can ride all day without feeling battered. The power steering is smooth and perfectly balanced, and the overall stability is outstanding wherever you take it.”

Reliable power – any terrain, any task
“The 500 is a great all-rounder – light, fuel-efficient and incredibly capable. The 750, though, is a beast! It’s built for serious power – ideal for heavy loads like dragging trees or hauling water trailers.”

This proved invaluable last summer when a fire broke out in woodland on the estate. The Suzuki’s agility and towing capacity meant that Paul was able to respond quickly, getting water right up to the     site to prevent the fire from spreading.

When other vehicles would damage the land or simply can’t get through, the KingQuad goes where others can't. And with Suzuki’s reputation for reliability, Paul knows he can trust it – no matter the job, weather, or terrain.
